WASHINGTON — Americans on both coasts will have access to a hurricane hot line if a major tropical storm threatens this year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Thursday.
The agency said it will set up a Pacific hot line to serve residents of Hawaii and coastal states, in addition to the previously announced hot line serving the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
Both systems will offer recorded messages, regularly updated, whenever a named tropical storm threatens the nation. The services will operate 24 hours a day.
The Pacific Coast hot line number is 900-410-WARN.
