Local News in Brief : Lake Forest : Two Killed in Car Crash on I-5 at 100 M.P.H.

A sports car traveling an estimated 100 m.p.h. and passing cars on the right shoulder of Interstate 5 swerved out of control Sunday night and rammed an embankment, killing its driver and passenger, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP officers said the driver--Gary Lee Roberts of Laguna Hills--and the passenger--William Scott Carpenter, 27, of Memphis--were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the car. Both died at the scene.
No other vehicle was involved in the crash, which occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on the southbound lanes, north of Lake Forest Drive.
