International Paper’s earnings more than doubled to $188 million in the second quarter from $90 million in the year-ago period. The Purchase, N.Y., paper products company said revenue hit $2.4 billion in the period, up from $1.9 billion a year ago. The company credited strong demand for its products and price increases for the improved results. Increased sales were due, in part, to the impact of acquisitions, primarily Anitec and the non-wovens division of Kendall (now called Fibertec), the company said.
