California State University trustees approved plans Wednesday for $23.4 million in capital-improvement projects, including a 1,000-space garage, at Cal State Northridge.
The trustees approved amendments to the CSUN master plan allowing the garage and additional space for offices, meetings and storage.
Money for the projects would come from state funds, campus fund raising and a $600-million school bond issue on the state ballot in November. Some of the projects could be delayed if the bond issue does not pass, CSUN officials said.
An expansion of the School of Engineering and Computer Science is the largest of the projects. Faculty offices, graduate research space and storage areas would be added at a cost of $10.3 million, school officials said.
The parking structure is to be built in 1994 for $7 million, and 90 offices are to be added to Sierra Hall, a faculty office building, at a cost of $5.8 million, administrators said.
CSUN also plans a $300,000 addition of office space and a conference room to the campus intercollegiate athletics building.
