Worker Crushed While Installing Elevator

A 43-year-old worker was crushed to death while installing an elevator Thursday at the Embassy Suites hotel under construction in downtown San Diego, police reported.
The victim was identified as Michael Dennis Gray, an employee of the U.S. Elevator Corp. He was helping install an elevator at the hotel, nearing completion at Market Street and Pacific Coast Highway, at 5:10 p.m. when he was crushed by the elevator’s counterweight, police said. Gray was pronounced dead at the scene.
