U.S. District Judge John S. Rhoades was in fair condition and improving at Mercy Hospital on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack over the weekend at his vacation home in Julian, according to William Walker, a law clerk for the jurist.
Rhoades, 63, was admitted Sunday afternoon after complaining of chest pain, hospital spokeswoman Laura Avallone said. Walker said Rhoades will return to work in about a month.
