Duarte : Ramp Meters Will Be Used
Caltrans has announced that nine ramp meters will be turned on beginning this week on the westbound Foothill Freeway from Mount Olive Drive in Duarte to Sunflower Avenue in Glendora.
The signals will operate weekdays and holidays from 6 to 9 a.m. but will be turned off on weekends.
The metered ramps are located at southbound Mount Olive Drive, southbound and northbound Irwindale Avenue, southbound Azusa Avenue, northbound Azusa Avenue via Base Line Road at Alameda Avenue, and northbound Grand Avenue via Base Line Road at Dodsworth Avenue.
Metered ramps with car-pool bypass lanes are located at Vernon Avenue, southbound Grand Avenue and Sunflower Avenue.
During the first few days of operation, the signals will stay green to help motorists become used to them.
Caltrans will monitor the effect of the meters on traffic and, if necessary, adjust them to provide safer and more efficient operation of the freeway and adjacent streets.
