A baldness remedy is one step closer to final federal approval, officials of Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Upjohn pharmaceutical company said. Upjohn said it received an “approvable letter” from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its topical minoxidil preparation for the treatment of male pattern baldness. An approvable letter is “historically the last step before final approval” for marketing, said spokesman R. D. LaRue. LaRue said the letter means data submitted by the company has been approved, leaving only label language to be worked out.
