Local News in Brief : Day Laborer Ordinance

Glendale city officials postponed a decision Tuesday on an ordinance that would make it illegal for day laborers to solicit work on streets and sidewalks after Los Angeles civil rights activists and some local residents complained that the law would curtail basic rights.
The City Council said it would meet during the next 60 days with civil rights leaders and citizens to attempt to resolve merchants’ protests about day laborers congregating near downtown.
