Local News in Brief : Child-Porn Sentence

An Italian executive who allegedly corresponded with an undercover police officer about acquiring a 10-year-old girl for “hard sex” was sentenced Wednesday to a year in prison for his conviction on child pornography charges.
Alesandro Moncini, owner of Moncini Tire Co. in Trieste, and a former professional race car driver, told U.S. District Judge Ronald Lew he had “completely changed my ideas” as a result of his arrest. But the Los Angeles judge said he had committed “a dangerous act.”
Moncini, 47, was charged with four counts of violating U.S. laws by mailing a videotape and some magazine pictures depicting children engaged in explicit sexual activity.
At his sentencing, government prosecutors introduced a series of letters, telephone conversations and pornographic material exchanged between Moncini and undercover Los Angeles Police Officer William H. Dworin in which the government claims that Moncini sought to find a young girl whom he could sexually torture.
Moncini’s lawyer, Stanley I. Greenberg, said his client was simply engaging in fantasies with Dworin.
Moncini was arrested March 18 at Kennedy International Airport in New York in what Rolnick said was his planned trip to carry out the molestation.
