Writers Strike--A Sour Aftermath

I watch television from time to time and do not understand all of the excitement over the “writers strike ending.” I mean, it isn’t the Second Coming.
Are you trying to tell me that the TV shows I have been watching over the years actually had writers?
I always thought that they just took one car chase, two cops, or one private eye, plus one or two wonderful looking women, mixed them up, added in a murder or five and voila , you have the latest hit show!
Thank you for bringing me the news that television shows actually have writers. You could have fooled me.
