Hooray for Residents

When it comes to community involvement and human ambiance, Sam Hall Kaplan is usually on target, so his thrust “Hooray, We Hope, for Hollywood” (July 31) to build the Santos design housing instead of a park, etc. is a bit of a surprise.
Given the number of battles lost or mostly lost, there are times the community (residents) should win the day--even for a design that is very decent. Good principles and designs can be built in lots of places. This seems a time when the means are more important than the end (a building end). Councilman Woo has cost the community and himself a high price by not better attending the means.
