Reagan Signs Bill Giving $672 Million to Federal Agencies

WASHINGTON — President Reagan signed into law Sunday a bill appropriating $672 million to help several federal agencies make ends meet for the rest of the budget year that ends Sept. 30.
The measure also authorizes the shift of another $200 million among various agencies.
The biggest single sum, $530 million, goes to the Veterans Administration to pay for a heavier caseload, medical care and some increased benefits.
Also included: $75 million for the Justice Department, chiefly to cover expenses of rioting last year by Cuban detainees in two federal prisons; $60 million for the Coast Guard; $55 million for the Agriculture Department, including some drought costs.
