Reagan Congratulates Bush on ‘Great Speech’

SANTA BARBARA — President Reagan telephoned George Bush Thursday night to congratulate the vice president on what he called a great speech at the New Orleans convention, the White House said today.
“Congratulations. It was a great speech. We’re all with you, George,” the White House quoted the President as telling Bush. Reagan and his wife, Nancy, watched Bush accept the Republican nomination for November’s presidential election on television at their mountaintop ranch north of Santa Barbara where they are on vacation.
