Local News in Brief : Bradley Proposes Panel for Disabled
- Share via
In a move that could soothe his relations with people with disabilities, Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley on Tuesday proposed creating a city Commission on Disability.
The commission, if given authority by the City Council, should have the power to investigate the problems of residents with disabilities, hold public hearings and advise city government, Bradley said in a written message.
Activists for the disabled have been highly, and vocally, critical of Bradley in the past year, accusing him of making patronizing appointments to his advisory committee on handicapped issues.
