Santa Barbara 27, Rio Mesa 7--Junior running back Chris Sanchez ran for first-half touchdowns of 2 and 3 yards to lead Santa Barbara in a league opener at Rio Mesa.
Santa Barbara running back James Hale had a game-high 120 yards in 13 carries, including a 21-yard touchdown run.
Rio Mesa scored its touchdown with 4:29 to play on a 22-yard touchdown pass from John Gomez to tight end Ken Scholle.
