Prep Football : Villa Park Loses to Antelope Valley

LANCASTER — Tommie Smith of Antelope Valley High School gained 303 all-purpose yards, scored 3 touchdowns and threw for another to lead the Antelopes to a 36-17 victory over Villa Park Friday night.
Smith scored the first time he had the ball on a 91-yard kickoff return in the first quarter. Later, Smith threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Alex Marquez. Smith rushed for 149 yards in 13 carries, and scored on runs of 1 and 57 yards.
Villa Park (1-4) gained 352 total yards, scoring on its first drive. Running back Mike Noble capped the 14-play, 76-yard drive with a 2-yard run.
In the second quarter, trailing 12-7, Ted Burnett kicked a 22-yard field goal. After that, however, Antelope Valley pulled away.
