Verdugo Hills 38, Belmont 18--Verdugo Hills scored 4 unanswered touchdowns after trailing, 6-0, at Belmont to notch its third consecutive victory.
Fullback Paul Koons and flanker Bobby Yerby each had 2 touchdowns during the scoring binge. Koons finished with 154 yards in 5 carries. Yerby, who had 109 yards in 6 carries, scored on runs of 33 and 63 yards.
Koons scored on runs of 50 and 89 yards, and added a third touchdown on a 35-yard pass from quarterback Luis Rodriguez in the fourth quarter to give Verdugo Hills a 33-12 lead.
An 80-yard fourth-quarter kickoff return by Belmont’s John Lopez concluded the scoring.
