Two more water wells were shut north of Fresno after officials determined that a plume of contaminated underground water stretches more than 2 miles south from the community of Pinedale. Tests showed that both wells were contaminated with traces of TCE, an industrial solvent. A total of six wells in and around Pinedale have been closed since the first TCE contamination was discovered last May. The TCE was believed to have come from a former plant operated by Industrial Waste Processing Co., a chemical distributor and recycler of metals and solvents.
