Scott Hannah kicked 2 second-half field goals Friday night to lead Capistrano Valley High School to a 6-0 South Coast League victory over visiting Irvine before about 2,000 fans.
Capistrano Valley improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. Irvine fell to 5-2, 1-1.
Hannah kicked a 41-yard field goal early in the third quarter to put Capistrano Valley ahead, 3-0. The first play of the 7-play drive leading up to the field goal was a 30-yard run by tailback Chi Chi Biehn. Biehn led all rushers with 89 yards in 18 carries.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Hannah added a 37-yard field goal.
Jeff Caudill kicked a 35-yard field goal for Irvine early in the second quarter, but the points came off the scoreboard when the Vaqueros decided to accept a penalty on the play. The drive, however, stalled and Caudill missed the ensuing 35-yard field goal try.
The Capistrano Valley defense sacked Irvine quarterback Dave Lincoln 4 times and held him to 5 of 15 for 68 yards and 1 interception.
Capistrano Valley quarterback Tony Solliday was 9 of 14 for 125 yards and 1 interception. Three of the passes went to Doug Bame for 53 yards.
