Local News in Brief : 2 From Rival Gangs Indicted in Portland

A federal grand jury in Portland, Ore., has indicted two members of rival street gangs, including a Compton man alleged to be one of the top Bloods members in Portland.
The indictment charges Mario Lewis, 19, said by police to be from the West Side Pirus gang in Compton, with two counts of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute and one count of selling marijuana.
Lewis, who has been accused of supervising operation of at least five “crack houses” in Portland, was arrested Oct. 11, then released because of overcrowding at the local jail.
But he was arrested again two days later after public outcry about his release.
