Irvine police, responding to an anonymous tip Tuesday evening, found the body of a young man, clad only in underwear, floating in the South Lake of Woodbridge, next to a gazebo along Alton Parkway.
The unidentified man was described as about 25 years of age, white and of medium build, a deputy for the Orange County coroner’s office said. There was no immediate evidence of foul play, the deputy coroner said.
The body appeared to have been in the recreational lake, which is surrounded by homes and a beach club, for about 3 days, the deputy said.
Irvine Police Sgt. Richard Bowman said the body was found after an unidentified man called police at about 6 p.m. to say “there’s a body out there.”
An autopsy was scheduled today, the coroner’s office said.
