May Department Stores’ third-quarter net income advanced 21% from last year to $104 million. Sales totaled $2.82 billion, also up 21%. The St. Louis-based retailer attributed the results to the sale of its Loehmann’s unit as well as a good performance in women’s apparel late in the period.
