Local News in Brief : Glendale Police Chief Has Bypass Surgery

Glendale Police Chief David J. Thompson was in good condition Thursday after undergoing double-bypass heart surgery at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan in Los Angeles, a Police Department spokesman said.
Thompson, 58, suffered a heart attack Nov. 3 while attending a La Canada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce lunch. According to Sgt. Dean Durand, Thompson drove himself to a Glendale hospital after feeling chest pains and nausea during the luncheon.
