B-1Bs Flying Again After Safety Checks

WASHINGTON — The Air Force returned nearly one-third of its B-1B bomber fleet to flight status Thursday after conducting safety inspections spurred by a crash earlier in the week.
Air Force officials declined to predict when they would complete the one-time inspections for the remaining B-1Bs, but said the checkups were going smoothly.
As of Thursday afternoon, 32 of the 98 long-range bombers had been returned to flying status after being grounded on Wednesday.
