Joe Douglas, agent for track star Carl Lewis, said he has been approached by a representative of Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson about the possibility of a big-money match race.
Douglas, during a telephone interview with the Toronto Star, said he recently received a call from one of Johnson’s advisers asking if Lewis was interested in an unsanctioned race. Douglas said the chances of a match race are extremely remote but did not rule out the possibility.
Johnson was stripped of his Olympic gold medal in the 100 meters and was banned from competition for 2 years after he tested positive for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid, at the Seoul Games in September.
