A $2.5-million cost-of-living salary increase for city management personnel and fire department employees was approved Tuesday by the Glendale City Council.
Director of Finance Brian Butler said that Fire Department employees were in the midst of contract negotiations and that adjustments for management personnel had not been calculated when the city drafted its budget in June. The increases range from 4% to 10%, he said.
The council also allocated $128,000 to fund 12 new positions for the remainder of the 1988-89 fiscal year, including 10 permanent positions in the commercial section of the Public Service Division.
In another action, the council approved an amendment to the Municipal Code allowing city employees to carry over their vacation time from one calendar year to the next in “rare or unusual circumstances.”
