South Gate : Councilwoman Has Stroke
South Gate Councilwoman Dorothea Lombardo remained in critical condition Wednesday at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood after suffering a stroke, according to a medical center spokeswoman.
Lombardo was taken to the hospital Monday night by county paramedics after she was discovered semiconscious in her home. Police were called to the home by friends, and found the first-term councilwoman on a sofa. Council members had asked friends to check on the councilwoman after she failed to show up for the regularly scheduled 7 p.m. council meeting.
Lombardo, 65, was elected to the five-member council in May.
