SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Hall of Fame pitcher Carl Hubbell remains in critical condition, officials at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital-Osborn said today.
Hubbell, 85, was injured Saturday when he lost control of his car, which hit a metal pole about a mile from his home in Mesa, police said. Police theorize that the accident was caused by Hubbell suffering a stroke. He was elected to the professional baseball Hall of Fame in 1947. He amassed a 253-154 record during his 16 years with the New York Giants.
