Louise Leung Larson; Among 1st Asian Women Reporters

Louise Leung Larson, 83, one of the first Asian-American women to work for a major newspaper and a recent recipient of awards from the Asian American Journalists Assn. and the Asian Pacific Women’s Network. A Chinese-American, she graduated from USC in 1926 and had a 51-year career as a reporter, including stints with the old Los Angeles Record, the San Francisco News and the Chicago Times. She also wrote for the Los Angeles Times magazine and retired in 1971 from the Santa Monica Outlook. In Los Angeles on Oct. 1 of the complications of a stroke.
