Lithuanian Eugenius Tumaliavichus, 32, a member of the Soviet motor sport team and nine-time Soviet rally champion, was caught driving at speeds up to 86 m.p.h. on an open highway outside London last week between stages of the RAC Lombard Rally.
He was banned from driving in Britain for 6 months and fined $640 with $320 costs by magistrates for reckless driving.
Tumaliavichus, who pleaded not guilty, told the court through an interpreter that his stay in Britain had proved to be “quite unpleasant.”
