Peete Has Separated Left Shoulder

USC quarterback Rodney Peete has a slightly separated left shoulder, an injury he suffered near the end of the first half of Saturday’s game against Notre Dame at the Coliseum.
Peete was examined Monday, and his arm is in a sling. However, he is not expected to be incapacitated for more than 2 weeks, and he will be available when the Trojans begin practice in mid-December for their Jan. 2 Rose Bowl game against Michigan.
Peete hurt his left shoulder when he was sacked by Notre Dame’s Frank Stams on the second-to-last play of the first half.
USC Coach Larry Smith said Saturday that there had been some doubt as to whether Peete could play in the second half. He played, though, as USC lost, 27-10.
It had been a difficult 2 weeks for Peete. He contracted the measles before the UCLA game Nov. 19 but led USC to a 31-22 victory and a berth in the Rose Bowl game. Last week, he was suffering from laryngitis.
