One crew member was killed and another was seriously injured early today aboard the aircraft carrier Nimitz when a fire apparently was started by an accidental firing of an aircraft gun, a Defense Department spokesman said. Six aircraft on the nuclear-powered carrier, now in the north Arabian Sea, were damaged by the blaze, said Army Maj. John Smith, who said few other details were available. The identities of the two Navy personnel were not released, pending notification of next of kin. The 95,000-ton carrier normally carries a crew of more than 6,000.
