A Tough Loss for USC, in Quite a Few Ways
- Share via
On Nov. 20, we read that USC “battered” UCLA, 31-22. One week later, however, we were given to believe that USC is actually better than Notre Dame but lost, 27-10, only because of some unlucky breaks and some reckless gambles by the Notre Dame coach who knew that he was outmanned.
If Lou Holtz knew he was outmanned, he was the only person watching (other than Bob Oates) who knew it.
