Pepperdine’s basketball team, 1-2 after defeating Northern Arizona, 96-61, Thursday night, will play tonight at Nevada Reno (2-0).
The Wolf Pack, 15-13 last season in Len Stevens’ first year as coach, is coming off a 92-90 win over Washington at Seattle.
Nevada Reno won it on 2 free throws with 9 seconds left by senior reserve forward Chris Rupp, who equaled a career high with 21 points and added 10 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Kevin Franklin, who averaged 31.6 points a game for Taft High School in Woodland Hills 2 years ago, had to sit out last season with the Wolf Pack because of academic ineligibility due to Proposition 48. He is averaging 13.5 points off the bench this season.
