The husband of a woman who apparently was beaten to death Wednesday in her North Park apartment was being questioned in connection with the killing, police said.
According to police, Ermias Abtew, 36, called police at 11:20 a.m. and told them that his wife, Yossef Engedawork, 29, was dead. When police arrived at the couple’s apartment in the 3370 block of Polk Avenue they found the dead woman, who had bruises around her head, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Abtew was taken by homicide detectives to police headquarters downtown, and questioned. The exact cause of death will not be determined until an autopsy is performed today.
