Two pedestrians were killed over the weekend in separate hit-and-run accidents in Van Nuys and Simi Valley, authorities reported Sunday.
The first incident occurred Saturday in Van Nuys. Juan Antonio Sidon, 39, of Panorama City was crossing Van Nuys Boulevard near Vincennes Street about 7:45 p.m. when he was hit by a yellow Toyota pickup truck, police said. Sidon’s body was thrown in front of an oncoming vehicle, which also struck him.
Authorities said the driver of the second vehicle stopped and called for help. Sidon was taken to Panorama Community Hospital, where he died.
Sunday morning in Simi Valley, 28-year-old Terrence Gift was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident in the 2300 block of Royal Avenue, police said.
Gift of Simi Valley was crossing the street in the middle of the block when he was struck by a car. Moments later, another car passed the body and its occupants called police.
When authorities arrived around 3:30 a.m., they found Gift’s body in the road. Officers said they have no witnesses to the accident.
