WARSAW — Stone-throwing youths chanting slogans supporting the outlawed Solidarity trade union smashed the windows of a police station in the Baltic port of Gdansk on Sunday, witnesses said.
About 200 teen-agers marched through downtown Gdansk after Sunday Mass at the pro-Solidarity St. Brygida Church, hurling stones at riot police who tried to block their way.
The police withdrew after the windows of at least two police vehicles were shattered, and no officers were in sight around the police station during the attack, the witnesses added.
