What becomes a nation least? Ask France’s culture minister, Jack Lang. Lang said on French TV Sunday that he finds it unacceptable that, often, the only shows he can watch on French TV are American ones like “Magnum, P.I.” and “The Incredible Hulk.” Lang called on the station chiefs to make their programming “more French, more European.” “I am sometimes humiliated by this fact (the omnipresence of American shows). (So) I say to the channel managers: Do your job, serve French culture.”
