A man was arrested on suspicion of burglarizing homes after two Fountain Valley residents reported attempted burglaries at their homes, police said Monday.
Robert M. Burk, 20, of Fountain Valley was taken into custody shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday when police spotted him walking next door to a house on Turtledove Avenue that an intruder had tried to enter just minutes before, according to Police Lt. Bob Mosley.
Residents of the home in the 9600 block of Turtledove awoke about 3:45 a.m. to the sound of their bedroom window screen being removed, Mosley said. They saw someone in their back yard and notified police.
Ten minutes earlier, a resident on Maple Lane, one block away, had reported that an intruder had forced the patio door open and had entered the living room. The intruder fled when the resident woke up and yelled at him, Mosley said.
No property was taken from either home, Mosley said.
Burk was being held in County Jail, Mosley said, and his bail was set at $25,000.
