Local News in Brief : 4 Schools Nominated for Award

Four South Bay schools are among 250 from throughout the state that have been nominated for 1988-89 California Distinguished Elementary Schools Awards. They are Lincoln and Alta Vista in the Redondo Beach City Elementary School District and Anza and Walteria in the Torrance Unified School District.
The nominees were picked from among nearly 4,600 schools statewide on the basis of such factors as test scores, program improvements and percentages of students enrolled in basic academic courses. Winners at the state level in April will participate in a national competition.
