Local News in Brief : Customer Killed in Robbery at Market

A Long Beach man who intervened in a robbery of a neighborhood market was shot and killed by one of three masked men who fled after holding up the storekeeper, police said Thursday.
William Carr, 29, was shot about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Alviso Market, a small grocery store near his home, Long Beach Police Detective Dennis Robbins said.
Carr was a customer in the store when three armed men, all wearing bandannas over their their faces, walked in and confronted the owner, Ki Wang, 59. Carr “said something to (the robbers) and was shot in the upper body,” Robbins said. “The suspects then completed the robbery and fled on foot.”
No arrests had been made.
