‘Standing Firm on Medicare’

Now we find Sen. Lloyd Bentsen joining the media (including The Times, Rep. Pete Stark, AARP) in an effort to make the public believe that those protesting the Medicare Catastrophic Act are only selfish rich retirees. (Part I, Jan. 12).
Although challenged by the protesters, there is no evidence that any of the above have made any effort to determine the financial status of any of those protesting this ill-conceived and discriminatory act. Most are seniors of moderate and fixed income.
Most senior organizations give priority to a national plan that will furnish adequate health care to all Americans. Band-Aid efforts will do nothing to solve our growing health care crisis.
