Local News in Brief : Cypress : College to Use Proceeds for Economics Institute

Cypress College announced that it received $122,260 at its annual Americana Awards fund-raising dinner Saturday--35% more than last year.
The money raised by the Cypress College Foundation is to be used to establish an Economics Institute, the college announced.
“It is very gratifying to see such wonderful support from the community,” dinner chairman Stan Pawlowski said.
During the awards banquet, the Cypress College Foundation honored Peter Ochs, founder and chief executive officer of Fieldstone Co., as the 1989 Man of the Year for community service. Others receiving foundation awards for community service were Mary Bouas, Anaheim; Pat Clark White, Buena Park; Jane Guest, Cypress; Jonathon Cannon, Garden Grove; Don Fosnight, La Palma; Ron Castillo, Los Alamitos-Seal Beach, and Vance Durnil, Stanton.
