WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Jody Reed, who won the Boston Red Sox’s regular shortstop job as a rookie last July, has more than doubled his salary for 1989. The Red Sox announced Sunday night that Reed had agreed to a one-year contract. Terms were not announced, but Reed will receive a reported $175,000. Reed, 26, replaced veteran Spike Owen after the All-Star break last year and helped the Red Sox to the American League East title, hitting .293 with one homer and 28 runs batted in. Owen was traded to Montreal during the off-season.
