An Anaheim man was in custody this morning while police tried to figure out his role in an apparent shoot-out on a La Habra street.
Police responding to reports of gunfire in the 400 block of West Las Lomas Drive Monday night found bloodstains inside a car and on the sidewalk, La Habra Police Lt. John Buchholz said. Two handguns were recovered nearby.
Buchholz said police were still trying to determine what happened in the 8:30 p.m. shooting. Based on a preliminary investigation, he said, police searched for Raymond M. Velasquez, 26, for seven hours and arrested him at a relative’s house in San Juan Capistrano.
Velasquez, who was suffering from superficial gunshot wounds to the face and arms, was treated at La Habra Community Hospital, Buchholz said. A parolee, he was held at the La Habra police station.
Buchholz said another man who was arrested near the scene also was in police custody this morning. He has not been identified.
