A motorist was killed Saturday afternoon when the car he was driving in excess of 100 m.p.h. on the Simi Valley Freeway crashed, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said. Three passengers, however, escaped injury.
The driver, who officials said had been drinking, apparently lost control of the vehicle when he reached down to adjust his radio about 1:30 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
The car, which was approaching College View Avenue in Moorpark, skidded across both westbound lanes, struck an embankment on the shoulder and rolled several times.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was killed. His identity was not released.
The passengers, who also were drinking, were not hurt, the CHP said.
