Director Francis Coppola (“The Godfather”) has been made an honorary citizen Monday of Bernalda, Italy, the birthplace of his paternal grandfather. The Detroit-born Coppola’s grandfather, Agostino Coppola, was a native of the small town in the Basilicata region of southern Italy, and emigrated to the United States just after the turn of the century.
