Brea Girls Top-Seeded in Century Tournament

The Brea-Olinda High School girls’ basketball team, the defending state Division III champion, is the top-seeded team in the first Century High summer basketball tournament July 6-9 at Santa Ana High.
Brea returns four starters for the 1989-90 season, including guards Aimee McDaniel and Tammy Blackburn. Fountain Valley, La Quinta and Woodbridge also are seeded in the 27-team tournament.
The tournament, which will be at Santa Ana because Century’s gym is under construction, will feature eight league champions and 20 teams that qualified for the Southern Section playoffs last season. The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 9.
