A 27-year-old transient was arrested Monday after he allegedly robbed a savings and loan in Costa Mesa.
Bryan Edward Warell, 26, was being held on $50,000 bail in connection with the robbery of California Federal savings and loan in the 2700 block of Harbor Boulevard, according to Sgt. Jim Watson.
A man entered the lending institution about noon Monday and demanded money before fleeing, Watson said.
Two narcotics detectives in an unmarked police car spotted a man matching the description of the robber a few blocks away. When the detectives confronted him, he ran into a nearby apartment complex where he was apprehended after a brief chase on foot, Watson said. No shots were fired.
Watson said Warell was carrying a bag with $1,610, the amount reported missing from the savings and loan.
